Overview

Leaminsborne was founded durring the late 9th century, by Zlë Calder-Marshall Crofford. The establishment of the new community went well, with no major obsticles durring construction.

Leaminsborne was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the late 9th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Leaminsborne is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber framed wooden shiethed or brick construction, which gives form to a very formalized, rational, expence effishent arcatectural style based on strictly symmetrical designs which universaly feature pitched roofs, shutters, and the occasional column or pilaster for a decorative touch.

Leaminsborne is buildings folow an organic layout of broad canals streets whihch gives the town a shape simmilar to a tree, if one views its streets from above. The town resides behind a palisade wall complete with battlments, a moat, and timber gatehouses with drawbridges. Leaminsborne 's robustly designed timber walls has sufferd soem light damage, reducing its function a little in some spots, but could almsot certainly preform as expected... Though some of the worse spots could lead to the loss of defenders lives if attackers identified the weaknesses ahead of time.

A look around Leaminsborne has something terribly wrong with it. It’s impossible to put one’s finger on, but something is horribly wrong. Maybe it’s the way fog blankets the ground, but only in the connors of places. Maybe it’s the vermin scuttling between shadows in the corner of your eyes. Perhaps it’s the overcast sky which seemed to creep out of nowhere, or the distant howling of wolves. Maybe it’s all of those things together, or perhaps it's the way these elements combine with the simple fact that it is abundantly clear Leaminsborne suffered something horrible some time ago. It's as if the town itself is depressed. Smiles are few, cheer is nowhere to be had. Everyone quietly goes about their daily business not looking anyone in the eye. Regardless, you do not feel it would be wise to remain in Leaminsborne long.

Cultural Notes

The locals are convinced that there is some terrible threat against them working from within their society. It may be a matter of dark sorcerers, foreign spies, traitorous neighbors, shape shifting monsters, or some other hidden evil. This evil may be a recent fear, or it may be an inherited peril they’ve always had to guard against. The danger itself may or may not exist, or if it exists it may not justify the steps being taken.

Leaminsborne 's town hall was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by towering round arches, massive stone and brickwork, small windows, thick walls, and a propensity for housing art and sculpture depicting mythological scenes. The building's general shape would be a clever and ascetic combination of geometric shapes, which would be blended together by joining elements. The style's decorative features were largely internal rather than external and incorporated semicircular arches for windows, doors, and arcades; barrel or groin vaults to support the roof of the nave; massive piers and walls, with few windows, to contain the outward thrust of the vaults; side aisles with galleries above them..

In Leaminsborne the water is caffeinated.

The Almiraj near Leaminsborne are known to be a mutant strain of the creature.

Leaminsborne 's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in summer and involves consuming a local toxin to channel Invocation energies of tier 2 via recitation of scripture.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century, Leaminsborne was attacked by savage lizardfolks living nearby. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Leaminsborne lost 287 people, 231 livestock, and 68 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 162, when members of Leaminsborne 's militia enacted an operation to transport a specific war supplies to a particular depot unharmed. The operation was complicated by the army being put into a position where they could only choose between two terrible options. The conflict ended with a last stand against the enemy until a particular event occurred, which ended in defeat for Leaminsborne 's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Leaminsborne 's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
